Chapter 53: Kai Smells Good, I Guess?

Dylan started hiccuping since this was the closest he had ever been to Suzy Mei. Meanwhile, Peng Yang struggled to speak since Suzy Mei, the girl he tried to court after seeing her a year ago in a football game, was drenched because of him.

Yani was about to scold the person who spilled the lemonade on Suzy; however, she quickly zipped her mouth shut when she saw Peng Yang holding onto the glass. Instead, she turned to Dylan.

"This is your fault!" Yani exclaimed to her classmate.

Dylan scratched the back of his head and was about to retaliate when Yani coldly gazed at him.

"Right," Dylan said, looking away. "Sorry," he meekly said.

Meanwhile, Peng Yang was still in shock. His chances with Suzy (which honestly wasn\'t a lot already) might have just gone down the drain.

"Suzy," he softly said, stepping forward to apologize more sincerely.

However, Suzy stepped back, evading his touch and gaze.

"Yani, let\'s go," an underlying anger was heard in her voice. "I lost my appetite."

Meanwhile, Kai shook his head as he watched the scene before him. He still didn\'t like Suzy for accusing him of being a pervert, but he could see how uncomfortable the woman was.

So, he glanced at this worn-out flannel and clicked his tongue before standing from his seat.

"Let\'s go," Kai said, making the others turn to him.

His eyes met Suzy\'s for a moment, but the latter quickly looked away, feeling embarrassed by the pee-colored stain on her clothes.

"Right!" Mingze said, not able to take the pressure of the situation. "Let\'s go!"

Dylan trailed behind the Shih Tzus, with Kai leading them. Peng Yang was about to call them out but quickly pursed his lips when he realized that it wouldn\'t be good if Suzy saw him losing his temper.

As Kai approached the door, he stopped just right beside Suzy.

Suzy pursed her lips and crossed her arms in front of her chest. "What?" she snapped.

Without a word and without even sparing Suzy a glance, Kai handed her the worn-out flannel that he liked.

He was a bit disappointed since the material was really soft and still smelled of Grandma Bingbing\'s fabric softener, but then again, Kai also couldn\'t ignore the fact that Suzy\'s undergarments were visible to the public eye.

It was just him being a decent human being.

"What is this?" Suzy asked, obviously not expecting Kai\'s gesture.

"Wear it," Kai said.

Suzy\'s eyebrows raised in surprise. Meanwhile, Peng Yang felt his temples heat up when he saw Suzy\'s reddening cheeks.

"Wha—"

"You must really like floral patterns," Kai said, not able to stop himself.

With that, he left the restaurant—leaving those inside completely stunned.

As the bell chimed, signaling that the weird bunch had now exited, Suzy placed her hand over her beating heart.

"I hate him," she grumbled, recalling his last statement. He must remember that her panties also had a floral pattern that day!

Yani frowned as she removed her jacket and gave it to Suzy.

"Don\'t wear this dirty clothing," she said. "Wear mine instead."

Yani was about to take away Kai\'s flannel from Suzy, but Suzy held onto it tightly.

"Give it to me so I can throw it away," Yani said with a frown.

"I\'ll throw it instead," Suzy said, still holding onto the material.

Yani\'s frown deepened in confusion, but she stopped trying to get it from Suzy.

"Suzy," Peng Yang began, looking apologetic. "I\'m really sorry. You know that I didn\'t mean to! Those weird kids just…"

Peng Yang continued rambling; however, Suzy couldn\'t hear anything he was saying.

All she could focus on was the warm and fragrant aroma emanating from Kai Guo\'s flannel.

"Smells…homey," she whispered.

Monday finally came, and Kai was excited to go to the basketball court. However, there was still some disappointment in his heart because the second-string team wouldn\'t be able to train until tomorrow.

Nonetheless, he was still riding on the high of their victory during the weekend, so nothing could really ruin his mood.

Kai entered the court and found that most of the players were already there. Lina, being the only rose among the thorns, smiled at him as he entered.

"Congrats," Shang said, patting his back.

"I heard you did a great job," Jet smiled.

"Thanks," Kai said, still confused because of their sudden praises.

However, when he saw the Shih Tzus waving at him from the side of the court, he quickly understood why. He trudged to where they were and smirked.

"Did you tell everyone about the game we had?"

"Of course!" Dylan exclaimed. "It was our very first game, and we won! I had to brag about it."

Sunny chuckled. "Dylan\'s elated right now because Yuze complimented him."

"That explains it," Kai said, shaking his head.

"We even told everyone that you scored 19 points and were the best scorer during the game!" Alen chimed, causing Kai to purse his lips.

Alen, seeing Kai\'s expression, apprehensively leaned back. "You don\'t mind us sharing that information, right?" he asked, not being able to read his expression.

Then, a small smile appeared on Kai\'s lips.

"Of course not," he said. "Brag about me more."

Dylan shook his head. "As expected, Kai is an attention-seeker like the rest of us."

Kai chuckled along with his teammates, enjoying the harmonious atmosphere.

Meanwhile, Yuze, Kun, and Lina watched the second-string team from the side.

"Did he actually score 19 points during the game against Feng Arts\' second-string players?" Kun asked.

Lina nodded. "Yeah. I couldn\'t watch it because I had to go to the hospital—"

"You went again?" Kun asked with wide eyes. "Are you alright?"

Lina clicked her tongue. "Don\'t interrupt me! And yes, I\'m fine. It just suddenly became painful, but it\'s all fine now. Anyway, I heard from people who watched it that Kai really did score the most during the game."

"How come?" Kun asked, crossing his arms in front of his chest. "He couldn\'t even score a single point during the tryout game."

Yuze shook his head. "That\'s because they were playing with Peng Yang\'s team. Those guys just know how to play basketball. They\'re not necessarily good at it."

"Well, you\'re not wrong about that," Kun chuckled. "They have very big heads, though. I\'m glad that Dylan and his team were able to beat them."

"Let\'s not speak about the second-string team further," Yuze said. "I have an important announcement. Gather the players."

Kun nodded and called for all of the players to form a circle around the scorer\'s table.

The second-string players, despite knowing that the announcement probably had nothing to do with them, still joined the circle.

"What\'s going on?" Jet asked. "Why aren\'t we starting our practice?"

"We\'ll start it soon," Yuze said. "I just have something to say."

"Is it bad news?" Zeren asked.

Yuze\'s lack of response made the team nervous.

Then, he sighed before continuing his statement.

"As you all know, I have scheduled a practice game with Feng Arts High before the start of the Winter Cup. It was bound to happen on this very court Friday next week."

"However," Yuze continued. "There have been some changes."

"What changes?" Jinping asked.

"Well, first things first, the game will now happen at Feng Arts," he started off.

The Shizi players were excited since they had only heard of Feng Arts\' amazing basketball facility. The thought of playing on their court was already amazing!

"But Yin Yang has scheduled a practice game with them on the same day."

"As a result, our game has been moved to an earlier date. We\'ll now be having our practice game with them this Friday."
