Chapter 36: A New Path Beckons

In the meantime, Cain planned to ramp up content showcasing his idol skills like dancing, playing instruments, and more. Sometimes, he\'d simply post a snapshot of his handsome face or his fashion style, which wasn\'t really gaining serious attention right now.

Singing was still a challenge, though. Stuck at level 5, it seemed like progress in that area was just out of reach — for now.

Cain opted for a sleek, long-sleeve business attire — pants, cloak, and gloves — before heading to DADDY Salon. He stuffed everything he needed into his duffel bag and headed out. Even now, the name of the place sent a shiver down his spine.

"Who in their right mind named their salon like that?" Cain grumbled to himself.

"The name might sound ridiculous, but it\'s one of the top salons in Zone A," Fifi chimed in, flying beside him as they descended a few steps down their HQ.

Downstairs, Joker and Bones were already up, whipping up breakfast.

"Cain!" Joker called out, blocking Cain\'s path. "What do you want for breakfast?"

"I\'ve got something to take care of. You guys eat without me. I\'ll grab something outside," Cain replied, brushing past him.

Joker persisted. "Cain, we really need to deal with the Silver Serpents encroaching on our turf. You\'ve been so absent lately that we\'re lost on how to handle them."

Cain sighed deeply. "I\'ll take care of it once I\'m free. In the meantime, don\'t do anything stupid."

Joker could only watch as Cain hurried out the door, frustration etched on his face. As Cain disappeared, Joker scratched his head furiously. "What\'s with Cain lately? He\'s nothing like his old self!"

Bones chuckled. "Ohohoho, leave him be. Everyone\'s got something they\'d rather keep to themselves. It\'s human nature."

"This is Cain we\'re talking about. What else interests him besides fighting?" Joker questioned.

Bones paused, then shrugged. "Hmm . . . good question."

Joker wasn\'t convinced. "Maybe it\'s time we follow him ourselves."

All the lackeys they had sent to tail Cain came back empty-handed — or worse, beaten up. Cain was just too sharp, his instincts too honed to be followed without him noticing.

Bones shook his head, flipping a pancake in the pan with a smile. "Don\'t do that. He\'ll be mad. Let him be for now. He\'ll tell us what\'s up when he\'s ready."

Joker slumped into a chair, groaning. "Ugh! The curiosity is killing me! The boredom is killing me!"

"Ohohoho, maybe it\'s time you found a hobby and stopped snooping in other people\'s business."

Cain made sure no one was following him before hailing a private cab to District 1. Better safe than sorry. Once there, he grabbed a quick breakfast before blending into a crowd, making his way to a restroom to change. When he emerged, he was C.C., complete with a cap and mask.

He was gaining popularity fast, and the last thing he wanted was to be recognized and mobbed by fans. Fifi, floating nearby, rolled her eyes.

"You\'ve only got a million followers. Don\'t act like you\'re some mega-celebrity. At most, people might snap a photo of you. Or are you afraid they\'ll touch you? Especially the girls?"

"Shut up," Cain muttered, ignoring her as they headed straight to DADDY Salon.

As Cain approached the building, he gulped. Contrary to what he had imagined, the salon was anything but tacky. The exterior was modern, sophisticated, and exuded a masculine vibe. Dark and gold walls with a blend of classic architecture and large, modern glass windows set the tone.

Inside, the salon was even more impressive, with a minimalist design in neutral colors. The women\'s section was separate from the men\'s, and the staff looked impeccably professional, dressed in uniforms and aprons. Some of the stylists didn\'t wear uniforms but were clearly the top-tier, handling the cutting and styling.

Cain took a deep breath, steeling himself. This was a whole new world, and he was about to step right into it.

"Can I help you?"

Cain\'s attention was drawn to a tall, dark-skinned staff member with a professional smile. He noticed that nearly all the staff here were male, which put him at ease . . . somwhat.

"Yes." Cain removed his mask and handed the man a letter. "I\'m here for this."

The man\'s eyes twinkled, widening slightly as he recognized Cain. "Oh, you\'re C.C!"

At the mention of his name, several staff members turned their attention to him.

"He\'s even more handsome in person," remarked a wealthy-looking woman having her hair done.

"What are you talking about? All the staff here are handsome," another commented.

"That\'s why I always come here," chimed in a third, and they all laughed.

Cain ignored the fawning old women and focused on the staff member.

"Come inside. Our boss is expecting you." The staff member led Cain down a private hallway towards the boss\'s office.

After knocking, the staff member opened the door and gestured for Cain to enter.

Cain stepped into the spacious room, which was sparsely furnished with only a few cabinets. Behind an executive desk sat a tall man with broad shoulders, dressed in a black-and-white long-sleeve shirt rolled up to his elbows. His long legs were emphasized by his black pants. His hair was a striking grey, and when he looked at Cain, the latter felt momentarily stunned.

The man appeared to be in his mid-forties or older, but his impressive physique and masculine presence were undeniable.

He smiled, his teeth sparkling white. "C.C.! I\'ve been waiting for you! I thought you\'d never come!"
